MBA-MCI students visited SCG group in the residential week in Thailand 2023

Recently, MBA-MCI students had the opportunity to visit Siam Cement Group (SCG), one of Thailand’s largest and most successful companies, for a Company Presentation with Mr. Smithi Kosicharoen, the Deputy Chief Strategy and Investment Officer of SCG Cement-Building Material. The presentation offered students valuable insights into the company’s operations and strategic direction.

SCG is a leading cement and building materials company in Thailand with a presence across Asia. Its operations encompass a wide range of industries, including chemicals, paper and packaging, building materials, and distribution. With over 100 years of experience, the company has established itself as a pioneer in sustainable development and innovation, focusing on enhancing the quality of life of people and communities where it operates.

During the Company Presentation, Mr. Smithi Kosicharoen shared with the students the company’s vision, mission, and values, as well as its strategy and performance. He also highlighted some of the company’s key initiatives, such as its circular economy approach, which aims to create a sustainable and responsible business model that minimizes waste and maximizes resource efficiency.

MBA-MCI students who attended the Company Presentation had the opportunity to learn about the inner workings of a large and successful corporation, including its strategic planning, decision-making processes, and operations. They also gained valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities facing businesses in Thailand and the wider Asia region, as well as the importance of sustainability and innovation in today’s business landscape.

In addition to the Company Presentation, the trip to SCG also offered MBA-MCI students the chance to experience Thai culture and hospitality, network with local business professionals, and engage with the community. They were able to visit local businesses, explore the city’s cultural landmarks, and participate in team-building activities and group projects.

Next session of the visit at SCG, MBA-MCI students also had the opportunity to explore the Innovation Garage, a state-of-the-art research and development facility that serves as a hub for innovation and collaboration across SCG’s various business units. The Innovation Garage is equipped with cutting-edge technology and tools, including 3D printing and simulation software, and offers a range of services to support SCG’s innovation initiatives. Through the Innovation Garage Tour, students were able to see first-hand the importance of research and development in driving innovation and growth, as well as the ways in which SCG is leveraging technology and collaboration to stay ahead of the curve in a rapidly changing business landscape.

Overall, the trip to SCG was a valuable and enriching experience for MBA-MCI students, providing them with a unique opportunity to learn about one of Thailand’s most successful companies and gain insights into the local business landscape. Through the Company Presentation and other activities, students were able to broaden their knowledge and skills and develop a deeper understanding of the complexities of doing business in Asia.
